Founding Story
HoopLight was founded in 2017 by basketball visionary and product designer Joseph Erlic. Upon finishing his varsity sports career, he was fraught with uncertainty. Sports had always been a part of his identity, so leaving that part of his life behind was not an option.
The only other thing that could possibly rival his attachment to sport, was his enjoyment of video games. One day while enjoying a nice game of Super Smash Brothers, the life-changing thought came to him - why can’t sports feel like video games? Now wouldn’t that be fun! And so HoopLight was born.
Joseph was later joined by co-founders and brothers - Jure Erlic, sales & marketing specialist, and Martin Erlic, web & app developing expert. Two other team members in mechanical electrical engineering as well as design currently support the founding team.
HoopLight’s headquarters are located in Victoria, BC, inside a garage next to a driveway basketball court where the team brainstorms, prototypes, manufactures and enjoys the game they love so much.
